Alertan a migrantes del peligro de cruzar el Río Bravo

Piedras Negras, Coah.- La Patrulla Fronteriza de los Estados Unidos, sector Del Río ha lanzado una advertencia a los inmigrantes para que no arriesguen sus vidas y las de sus hijos al intentar cruzar el Río Bravo.
Existe una tendencia alarmante en el sector de Del Río de inmigrantes indocumentados con niños pequeños que cruzan el Río Bravo a lo largo de la frontera. Una vez que los grupos comienzan a cruzarse, se dan cuenta rápidamente del peligro y están a merced de las corrientes traicioneras y profundas del Rio Bravo.
En el año fiscal 2019, que comenzó el 1 de octubre de 2018, los agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza han rescatado a más de 380 inmigrantes indocumentados de las turbulentas aguas del rio, incluidos niños pequeños que son arriesgados por sus padres sin medir las consecuencias.
“Es preocupante lo que está ocurriendo en nuestras fronteras y atestiguado por nuestros agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza todos los días”, dijo Randy Davis, jefe interino de la Patrulla Fronteriza Sector Del Rio.
Es imperativo que los inmigrantes que desean ingresar a los Estados Unidos lo hagan a través de un puerto de entrada designado, mejor conocidos como puentes internacionales. Intentar cruzar el Río Bravo, especialmente con niños pequeños, no vale la pena correr el riesgo.
“Esta tendencia no está exenta de trágicas consecuencias. Los agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza están rescatando a personas, pero también han tenido la ardua tarea de recuperar cadáveres de aquellos que mueren en las caudalosas aguas del Rio Bravo, incluidos niños de tan solo 10 meses de edad”, afirmó.
Los niños se están ahogando o resultan gravemente heridos en el intento. En las últimas semanas, los agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza en el sector de Del Rio han sido testigos de verdaderas tragedias humanas y varios incidentes cercanos a convertirse en tragedias causadas por inmigrantes que no prestaron atención a esta advertencia, por lo que se les pide no arriesgar su vida y la de sus hijos al intentar cruzar el Rio Bravo.
Hasta el día de hoy la Patrulla Fronteriza ha realizado innumerables rescates, desafortunadamente se han perdido vidas por la irresponsabilidad de los padres y los traficantes humanos, que animan a la gente a usar dispositivos inflables no adecuados.
El 1 de mayo, una balsa de uso recreativo con nueve personas volcó y envió a todos al agua, con saldo de tres personas ahogadas, incluido un bebe de 10 meses y un niño de 7 años, mientras que una niña de 7 años sigue desaparecida.
Desde el 1 de octubre de 2018 hasta la fecha, se han reportado 10 muertes de personas que han perecido ahogadas solo en el Sector de Del Río. Este es un incremento del 57 por ciento en comparación con el mismo período del año pasado.
El 18 de febrero, agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza rescataron a un joven de 12 años, el cual estaba inconsciente. Gracias a la oportuna intervención de los agentes quienes le proporcionaron resucitación cardiopulmonar (RCP) lograron salvarlo.
El 14 de mayo, una mujer amarró a su hijo de 1 año y entró en el río en un tubo de llanta sin darse cuenta de que su hijo estaba sumergido bajo el agua mientras ella luchaba contra la corriente. La madre y el niño fueron rescatados por agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza y trasladados a un hospital local.
Finalmente, este jueves 16 de mayo, agentes de la Patrulla Fronteriza rescataron a un hombre que intentó cruzar el río con un niño de tres meses atado a su pecho. Mientras el hombre luchaba por mantenerse a flote, el niño estaba bajo el agua, casi ahogado, ahora el menor esta grave por el agua que tiene en los pulmones.
