FIFA anuncia los repechajes rumbo al Mundial de Qatar 2022

El equipo que termine en cuarto lugar en las eliminatorias de la CONCACAF se enfrentará al campeón de Oceanía en una repesca intercontinental de un solo partido por un lugar para la Copa del Mundo.
La selección que ocupe el quinto lugar en las eliminatorias sudamericanas para Qatar 2022 se medirá con el quinto de Asia por el otro boleto, anunció la FIFA después del sorteo del viernes.
Ambos partidos se jugarán el 13 o 14 de junio en Qatar en sedes que están siendo preparadas para la Copa del Mundo.
Canadá es el líder actual de la clasificatoria de la CONCACAF con 16 puntos, seguido por Estados Unidos con 15, México y Panamá con 14 cada uno, Costa Rica (nueve), Jamaica (siete), El Salvador (seis) y Honduras (tres) con seis jornadas restantes. Los primeros tres avanzan directamente a Qatar.
El sorteo para Oceanía se realizará el lunes, y Nueva Zelanda es de los favoritos para entrar en la pelea.
En el repechaje para el Mundial 2018, a la CONCACAF le tocó pelear un boleto con Asia, y Australia derrotó 3-1 a Honduras en una serie de dos partidos. Sudamérica se enfrentó a Oceanía, donde Perú venció 2-0 a Nueva Zelanda en el global.
