Los jonrones 60 y 61 de Aaron Judge

Este ha sido un año extraordinario para Aaron Judge, un año destinado a ser recordado como uno de los desempeños ofensivos más grandes en la historia de Grandes Ligas. Y los fanáticos en todo el mundo reconocen al cañonero de los Yankees por esta gran temporada.
Disparó su cuadrangular 60 del año el martes 20 de este mes de septiembre, fue un batazo en solitario a lo profundo del jardín izquierdo-central en la parte baja del noveno inning, para una victoria de los Yankees que dejó en el terreno derrotando a los Piratas por 9-8.
“El Juez”, el miércoles 28 consiguió por fin dio el batazo de 4 esquinas número 61, para igualar el récord que ha estado vigente por 61 años de Roger Maris en la Liga Americana de más jonrones en una sola temporada de la Liga Americana.
Judge es ahora uno de solo 3 miembros en la historia de los Yankees de conectar 60 cuadrangulares en una campaña. Babe Ruth impuso ese récord de las Mayores con 60 vuelacercas en 1927 y se mantuvo hasta que Maris se adueñó de la marca en 1961, récord que ha empatado “El Juez” y tiene la oportunidad de 6 juegos que restan, para superarla.
LE REGRESARON LA PELOTA DEL NÚMERO 60
El martes 20, Michael Kessler, estudiante de 20 años de City College of New York decidió a última hora abordar el tren que lo llevaría al Yankee Stadium, con la esperanza de presenciar el jonrón número 60 de la temporada de Aaron Judge y la decisión fue la correcta, porque terminó en sus manos la histórica pelota del triunfo de Yankees por 9-8 sobre los Piratas.
“Fue una locura”, dijo Kessler. “Estábamos parados en la parte alta de las gradas cuando llegó el turno de Judge. Comenzamos a saltar porque pensábamos que sería un jonrón y así fue, pelota golpeó la parte alta de las gradas y rebotó hacia nuestra sección. La agarré y la abracé con mi cuerpo”. Luego junto a 3 compañeros de equipo de su universidad, donde es lanzador y patrullero de City College, decidió cambiar la pelota por 4 pelotas autografiadas, un bat firmado y además incluyendo conocer en persona a Judge. Lo que se cumplió
Se especuló que la pelota del jonrón 60 de Judge podría valer miles de dólares, pero Kessler afirma que nunca le pasó por la mente quedarse con ella, o ponerla a la venta. Y dijo: “Por eso se la entregué, porque merecía tener la pelota de vuelta. No lo pensé 2 veces”.
POR FIN LLEGÓ EL JONRÓN 61
Tal y como se esperaba, el toletero de Yankees, Aaron Judge igualó este miércoles 28 de septiembre el récord de jonrones en la Liga Americana impuesto por Roger Maris en 1961. Su número 61 fue contra Azulejos en Toronto en el tercer y último encuentro de esta serie. El vuelacerca 61 de “El Juez” llegó en la parte alta del séptimo episodio inning ante los envíos del relevista zurdo Tim Mayza. Sin out y con un corredor en la inicial, Aaron Hicks, y el toletero yankee puso la pelota en las gradas del jardín izquierdo, en cuenta completa de 3 bolas y 2 strikes, Judge le pegó a una sinker a 94.5 millas por hora y la pelota salió a una velocidad de 117 mph y viajó una distancia de 394 pies en un ángulo de 22 grados.
El histórico bambinazo de Judge lo conectó en su turno al bat número 553 de este año y en el juego 155 de los Yankees. La pelota bateada se la regresaron a Judge y se la entregó a su mamá, Patty, después de la victoria de Nueva York, por 8-3 sobre Azulejos de Toronto.
Pero no fue el único regalo que se otorgó esa noche. El umpire principal, Brian O’Nora, también felicitó a Judge por su tablazo récord al obsequiarle la tarjeta del line up del juego.
