La Canaco de Saltillo rindió un homenaje a Graciela Garza Arocha con un altar de muertos que fue instalado este martes 31 de octubre en la entrada del edificio que ocupan las oficinas del organismo empresarial.
Garza Arocha fue fundadora del restaurante La Canasta y falleció el pasado 19 de agosto a la edad de 83 años, por lo que en el altar, además de colocar sus fotografías, un par de chales y un libro, estuvieron los dulces que más le gustaban, como las palomitas de cheddar y caramelo, los dulces de coco, los malvaviscos, los garampiñados y las gomitas.

Alejandro Pepi de la Peña, presidente de la Canaco Saltillo, destacó que Garza Arocha fue socia de la cámara por más de 45 años y ocupo varios cargos, entre ellos los de consejera, secretaria del Consejo y vicepresidenta de Turismo.
Agregó que los socios del organismo la recuerdan con mucho cariño y afecto, pues siempre participó de manera incansable en las diferentes actividades de la Cámara, “jamás titubeó para contribuir de cualquier manera al desarrollo de la Canaco, siempre viendo por el bien común y tejiendo alianzas entre los miembros e incluso con sus colaboradores”.
Recordó que Garza Arocha empezó alrededor de 1965 con una pollería y posteriormente instaló el restaurante La Canasta, el cual con el paso del tiempo se convirtió en un ícono de la ciudad, al contar con una clientela de talla nacional, pues entre sus comensales había personas de Guadalajara, Ciudad de México, Querétaro y Monterrey, entre otras ciudades.
Por su parte, Luis Alejandro y Elisa María Jaime Garza agradecieron el homenaje en honor de su mamá y dijeron que estaría más que contenta de ver tanta amistad y gratitud. Señalaron que tocó muchos corazones e hizo mucho por la ciudad, por lo que es recordada con mucho cariño en Saltillo y la región.
OPERACIONES SE MANTIENEN
Consultados sobre el rumbo del restaurante La Canasta, los hermanos Jaime Garza indicaron que seguirá operando como hasta ahora, pues mantienen la propiedad del negocio y el nombre, aunque la operación está a cargo de Grupo Tómbola desde la reinauguración del local en noviembre del 2019.
