‘Tetris’ y ‘Chupa’
Resulta ser un muy buen complemento para quienes conocer un poco de los juegos que fueron populares para la generación X en su momento
En las últimas dos semanas, coincidiendo con las vacaciones para muchos de Semana Santa y de Pascua, algunas de las más conocidas plataformas de streaming aprovecharon para estrenar algunas de sus películas originales.
Así, Apple TV estrenó el pasado viernes 31 de marzo su segundo proyecto en colaboración con el actor británico Taron Egerton (“Kingsmen”; “Rocketman”) después de la multipremiada miniserie del año pasado “Black Bird: Confesiones de un asesino” también producido y protagonizado por él y de igual manera recreando la historia real del empresario norteamericano de videojuegos Henk Rogers quien a finales de los años 80, y durante una convención den Las Vegas, se propone llegar hasta la entonces Unión Soviética para conseguir en directo del inventor de un nuevo videojuego llamado “Tetris” los derechos de su distribución a nivel mundial convencido de que con ello hará un negocio multimillonario.
Precisamente es por ello que la película a la que nos referimos se titula “Tetris”, y coincidiendo a la vez con el taquillero estreno en cines de otra cinta basada en otro juego sensación de los 80 como lo fue “Super Mario Bros.” resulta ser un muy buen complemento para quienes conocer un poco de los juegos que fueron populares para la generación X en su momento, pero sobre todo a lo que se expuso un empresario como Rogers en plena Guerra Fría con la Unión Soviética en vísperas de su caída en medio del gobierno de Míjail Gorbachev, padre de la Perestroika, pero que como vimos en su momento en thrillers hollywoodenses como fueron “Sol de medianoche” (Taylor Hackford, 1985) o “Infierno Rojo” (Walter Hill, 1988), entre otras, ponían en peligro incluso la integridad física de todos los involucrados.
Dirigida por el cineasta también británico Jon S. Baird, quien en el 2018 ya nos había presentado una muy buena biopic nada menos que de “El Gordo y el Flaco” titulada por lo mismo “Stan & Ollie”, “Tetris” es heredera de las producciones mencionadas pero tiene su propia identidad precisamente porque su director la maneja a la manera de un videojuego con sus respectivos niveles como los actos de la trama en la que además de la actuación protagónica de Egerton destacan las de actores como el ruso Nikita Efremov, quien interpreta al inventor del videojuego Alexei Pajitnov o la del primer actor inglés Toby Jones (“El Espía que Sabía Demasiado”) como Robert Stein, otro de los empresarios compitiendo por los derechos de Tetris, entre otros más.
Por otro lado, aunque el mismo viernes 31 Netflix estrenó con buena aceptación la secuela de “Misterio a Bordo”, protagonizada de nuevo por Adam Sandler y Jennifer Aniston, preferimos abstenernos de opinar sobre esta y enfocarnos en el estreno de una semana después de “Chupa”, el más reciente filme del cineasta mexicano Jonás Cuarón, hijo de Alfonso, con quien escribió el guion de la ganadora del Oscar “Gravedad” (2013) y aunque de alguna manera nos decepciona con este nuevo proyecto teniendo como antecedente el buen drama de acción y aventuras de migrantes titulado “Desierto” (2015) le damos el beneficio de la duda por hacer en lugar de una cinta de terror basada en el fenómeno del Chupacabras que se dio en Latinoamérica incluyendo a México a mediados de los años 90.
Protagonizada por primeros actores como el nominado al Oscar Demian Bichir y Christian Slater, “Chupa” en su caso nos remite a clásicos familiares ochenteros de ciencia ficción como “E.T” .con la historia de Alex (Evan Whitten), un niño chicano quien de visita a su abuelo (Bichir) en México conoce a una criatura legendaria cuya existencia se ve amenazada por un científico norteamericano (Slater).
