Los mayas viven

Chancah, Veracruz, es una comunidad ubicada a unos minutos del municipio de Felipe Carrillo Puerto, que fue un antiguo e importante asentamiento maya, por eso se explica que su población sea en su mayor parte maya hablante: Chan Santa Cruz para mestizos y ejército yucateco; Xbalan Nah Kanpokolche Kah, nombre genuino maya; Santa Cruz de Bravo; municipio libre de Santa Cruz y Santa Cruz de Bravo. Desde 1934 lleva el nombre de Felipe Carrillo Puerto, de acuerdo con datos aportados por su insigne cronista, don Mario Chan Colli.
Retomando la visita en Chancah, estar allí es conectarse con su realidad geográfica y humana, pero también es perder la conectividad virtual. Por esa afortunada desconexión tecnológica me perdí la vinculación con tareas programadas, pero en cambio gané la experiencia vital de escuchar a 27 niños mayas cantando temas originales del director de la Escuela Primaria Indígena “Juan de la Barrera” C.C.T. 23DDPB0059F, este profesor heroico además dirige este coro memorable donde fue muy notoria su felicidad; todos los niños proyectaban felicidad al momento de cantar.

Francisco Caiuch May es el docente generoso y modesto -pues dice que no es un profesional-, que ha motivado a estos niños y les ha enseñado a entonar el Himno Nacional Mexicano y a recitar el juramento a la bandera en lengua maya. Acompañado de su guitarra el profesor Caiuch canta estrofas intercaladas con el canto de sus alumnos. Fue toda una sorpresa escuchar en el patio de la escuela temas como “Las luciérnagas” y “Las vocales”. El coro fue invitado después de sus interpretaciones por el doctor Enrique para participar en el Tercer Encuentro Internacional de Coros Indígenas que organiza la Fundación Mundo Maya para noviembre próximo, teniendo como sede la ciudad de Chetumal y como subsede el pueblo mágico de Bacalar, siendo apoyado por la Fundación Mundo Sustentable A.C. con el propósito de promover la práctica de las lenguas madre en México.
De Chancah pasé a Carrillo Puerto para sorprenderme de la calidad del evento conmemorativo del primer año del Centro Holístico Maya, con exposiciones de fotografías, libros sobre la guerra de castas; y la presentación de dos libros “cartoneros” confeccionados a mano bajo la dirección del maestro Chan Colli, cronista municipal y presidente de la Asociación Estatal de Cronistas Quintanarroenses. Uno de esos libros con el título de “Recordemos un poco más de la vestimenta” con textos e ilustraciones sobre la ropa tradicional peninsular. Para coronar los eventos conmemorativos del Centro Holístico Maya, se contó con una vibrante conferencia de Miguel Góngora Sánchez, doctor en historia de las armas que habló sobre Jaime Pet, ilustre maya que fue uno de los precursores de la defensa de la comunidad ante los que los esclavizaron en la explotación del henequén.
Mario Chan Colli es un líder natural nacido en 1955, su familia lo apoya tanto que hasta su esposa cocinó panuchos y tamales para la concurrencia.
Me anima la posibilidad de establecer en Felipe Carrillo Puerto, el Centro Biocultural Maya, una idea de mi amiga Dolores Barrientos, titular de ONU Medio Ambiente en México y Guatemala. Para ello se requiere de alianzas locales, nacionales e internacionales. ¡Se lograrán!
Ayer cené con la doctora Natalia Fiorentini, rectora de la UQROO, universidad que cuenta en Carrillo Puerto con una unidad educativa que dirige el doctor Everardo Góngora. Conversamos sobre lo que se tiene que hacer para hacer posible ese centro que apoyaría la resignificación de la cultura y natura maya; no la que está exclusivamente compilada en la historia, sino la que ocurre todos los días. Como lo pude constatar en el canto de los niños de Chancah.
