Y a Saltillo llega el invento que sacudió al mundo

Este mes de octubre se conmemoran 100 años de las primeras transmisiones de radio en México. La invención de la radio sigue en discusión, algunos consideran como el verdadero inventor a Nikola Tesla, fuentes norteamericanas apuntan al ingeniero italiano Guillermo Marconi, ya que presentó la patente de la radio en el año de 1904.
En 1895 Tesla había inventado un sistema para transmitir mensajes de voz sin hilos, no obstante, Marconi fue quien utilizó el invento de Tesla para realizar la primera comunicación sin cables entre Dover, Inglaterra y Boulogne, Francia en 1890.
Como resultado de las transmisiones hechas por Marconi, en 1909 obtuvo el Premio Nobel de Física, Marconi murió en 1937 y para 1943 la Corte Suprema de los Estados Unidos reconoció a Nikola Tesla como el inventor de la radio, devolviéndole la patente que había registrado el italiano Alessandro Marconi.
Nikola Tesla fue uno de los grandes inventores del siglo XIX... aunque nunca llegó a ser tan famoso como su archienemigo Thomas Edison, quien, además de ser su mayor rival, fue su jefe.
Sin embargo, el trabajo de Tesla —un ingeniero croata (entonces, el imperio astrohúngaro) de padres serbios emigrado a Estados Unidos— fue vital para desarrollar los sistemas eléctricos que usamos hoy.
Ambos genios protagonizaron un épico cruce de diatribas tecnológicas que se conoce como “la guerra de las corrientes”.
Edison apostaba por la corriente continua (CC), que trabajaba a una potencia de 100v y era difícil de convertir a otros voltajes. Pero Tesla pensaba que la corriente alterna (CA) era mejor, pues era más fácil de transportar.
LA RADIO EN MÉXICO
En 1921 se llevaron a cabo de manera simultánea en varias ciudades las primeras transmisiones, entre ellas la de Adolfo Enrique Gómez y su hermano Pedro, quienes provistos de un amplificador de 20 vatios y dos melodías iniciaron la transmisión desde el Teatro Ideal de la ciudad de México.
En Monterrey, el nueve de octubre de 1921, el regiomontano Constantino de Tárnava Jr. inició transmisiones regulares con un programa semanal y un patrocinador desde la estación que llamó, TND, Tárnava Notre Dame. La estación ya regularizada se convirtió en XEH-AM la primera emisora con licencia de Nuevo León.
En 1923 las ciudades de Pachuca, Morelia, Guadalajara, San Luis Potosí, Ciudad Juárez y Chihuahua comenzaron a emitir las primeras señales de radio y en la ciudad de México las emisoras CYL denominada, “El Universal Ilustrado, La Casa del Radio,” propiedad de los Raúl Azcárraga y Félix F. Palavicini y la CYB, hoy conocida con las siglas XEB.

LA RADIO EN MÉXICO
Un verdadero parteaguas en la historia de la radiodifusión en México fue cuando en punto de las ocho de la noche del jueves 18 de septiembre de 1930 irrumpió en el espectro radioeléctrico el sonido de un xilófono, seguido de la voz... XEW “La Voz de la América Latina desde México”.
En pocos años la icónica radiodifusora obtuvo más del 80% del mercado a nivel nacional. Su su alcance y extraordinarias producciones, hicieron a la W la estación más importante de habla hispana.
La W se escuchaba en toda la República Mexicana, programas como: Momentos Íntimos de Agustín Lara, La Hora Azul del Recuerdo, marcaron el gusto musical de la sociedad mexicana de la época hasta la década de los sesenta del lejano siglo.
Gran impacto tuvieron las radionovelas de “Chucho El Roto”, en la voz de Manuel Lopez Ochoa, “El Monje Loco”, personificado por Salvador Carrasco, otros géneros se desarrollaron como el programa del Bachiller Álvaro Fuentes y Gálvez .
Además del famoso artista Arturo Manrique “Panzón Panseco”, solo por mencionar algunos de los cientos de artistas y locutores que emitieron sus voces en los micrófonos de la XEW.
LA RADIO EN SALTILLO
Julieta Carabaza e Irene Ewald, en su libro, “Historia de los Medios de Comunicación en Coahuila”, nos platican que un grupo de empresarios formado por David Cabello Valdés, Antonio de la Peña, Trinidad Pérez y Froylán Mier Narro, establecieron la primera estación de radio de Saltillo en 1930, la cual operó desde tercer piso de la Escuela Normal, sus siglas XEL, La Voz de Saltillo.
Los primeros locutores de la ciudad fueron los profesores Jesús Perales Galicia y Trinidad Pérez, la programación de la XEL fue de corte cultural y se afilió a la estación XEFO del Partido Nacional Revolucionario, el cual transmitía conciertos organizados por el grupo de estudiantes coahuilenses Pro-Acción Social en la ciudad de México. Tres años más tarde la XEL dejó de funcionar.
Sobre la segunda estación, XEOL, El Eco de Coahuila, 1934, una empresa del señor Antonio Garza, desgraciadamente no hay información sobre su programación y penetración en los radioescuchas de la época.
La tercera estación XEAS nació con una potencia de 125 vatios desde el local de la Sociedad Manuel Acuña, operada por Antonio de la Peña y Froylán Mier Narro, transmitía contenidos netamente culturales, atrás de los micrófonos estuvieron los profesores Federico Berrueto Ramón, Ildefonso Villarello, Jesús Perales Galicia y el licenciado Jesús Flores Aguirre.
Todos presentaron examen para obtener licencia de locutor cultural, pues no trabajaban en la difusión de anuncios comerciales.
Esta estación cedió la frecuencia 1250 kHz. y siglas, se transformaron en XESJ, actualmente esta estación opera en lo que la frecuencia modulada.
En el mes de septiembre de 1938 don Efraín López Casares y Enrique de los Santos obtuvieron una concesión para operar una estación a la cual denominaron Radio Organización Saltillo, XEKS, identificada como El Vocero del Norte, se situaba en los 960 kilohercios del cuadrante.
