Destacan la urgencia de garantizar abasto y además que el 30% sea de tipo renovable, lo que servirá para elevar la competitividad y atraer más inversiones
A fin de asegurar un suministro adecuado de energía, las tres principales asociaciones gremiales del sector automotor subrayaron la urgencia de establecer un diálogo con la próxima administración para tratar la que vislumbran como la principal problemática en el corto y mediano plazo.
Con miras a captar la mayor inversión extranjera y transitar a la movilidad sustentable en México, la AMIA, la AMDA, la ANPACT y la INA presentaron el documento Diálogos con la Industria Automotriz 2024-2028, en el que resaltan la urgencia de impulsar políticas públicas ad hoc para lograr la integración de la industria automotriz en la región de Norteamérica.

Odracir Barquera, director general de la AMIA, y Armando Cortés, director de INA, advirtieron que la industria requiere como mínimo el 30% de energía limpia y renovable para operar las nuevas inversiones, y lamentaron que no haya crecimiento sustancial en los últimos 12 años de la red de transmisión y distribución.
El documento, entregado a los candidatos presidenciales, busca generar un diálogo constructivo sobre las necesidades y los retos que enfrenta la industria, la cual representó casi el 4% del PIB nacional y el 20.5% del PIB manufacturero en 2023.
Barquera destacó la necesidad de agilizar los procesos burocráticos que actualmente dificultan la implementación de nuevos proyectos energéticos, especialmente aquellos relacionados con la energía solar.
“Es crucial establecer un diálogo con la nueva administración para garantizar el aseguramiento de estas fuentes de energía... Al final del día, contribuyen a la autosuficiencia energética del país y fomentan la inversión”, afirmó.
En México operan 20 plantas de vehículos, 10 de motores y siete de transmisiones, de fabricantes estadounidenses, europeos y asiáticos. Al cierre del año pasado, el sector recibió 7 mil 159 millones de dólares de Inversión Extranjera Directa (IED), lo que representó el 19.9% del total recibido. En proporción, 20 de cada 100 dólares son generados por dicha industria.
Además, en el tintero hay al menos tres plantas armadoras nuevas: una de Tesla, otra de BYD y una más de GWM.
Pero el sector considera el abastecimiento de energía como uno de los aspectos indispensables a atender en el próximo sexenio, lo cual será crucial para la competitividad de la industria, especialmente en el contexto de la relocalización de inversiones, un fenómeno conocido como nearshoring.
“Será esencial contar con energía suficiente, más accesible en términos de infraestructura, proveniente en mayor medida de energías renovables y a costos competitivos, para poder competir efectivamente con otros países y regiones del mundo”, dice Barquera.
MÁS ENERGÍA RENOVABLE
La Industria Nacional de Autopartes, que representa a los fabricantes de componentes, coincide en la necesidad de una política dirigida a aumentar las fuentes de generación de energía limpia, especialmente en un contexto donde el valor de la producción de estos componentes está alcanzando niveles históricos este año.
Armando Cortés, director del organismo, destaca que la mayoría de las empresas del sector, al ser firmas internacionales, tienen compromisos de descarbonización, como garantizar que al menos el 30% de su suministro de energía provenga de fuentes renovables.
“Es fundamental considerar que un país sin una generación suficiente de energía no tiene un futuro sostenible. En ese sentido, todas las empresas de autopartes en México están colaborando estrechamente para hacer realidad diversas iniciativas relacionadas con la producción de energía, especialmente energías renovables, mediante proyectos público-privados que impulsen el desarrollo de la industria nacional de autopartes”, afirmó.
La generación de energía a partir de fuentes renovables está experimentando un retroceso. Según datos de la Comisión Federal de Electricidad, de 2022 a 2023, disminuyó del 35% al 25% del total.
ELECTROMOVILIDAD AL ALZA
La preocupación por la energía no se limita solo a la producción de vehículos. Con la transición hacia la electromovilidad, es crucial contar con un sistema de energía capaz de satisfacer la demanda que generaría la creación de infraestructura para los vehículos eléctricos.
Entre 2022 y 2023, las ventas de modelos 100% eléctricos se duplicaron, pasando de casi 6 mil a 13 mil unidades en el país, según cálculos hechos a partir de cifras del INEGI. Este crecimiento exponencial ha detonado un alza en las solicitudes de servicios de suministro eléctrico para su carga, ya sea en casa o en oficina.
Según el documento de la CRE, con información solicitada a la Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), de 2019 a finales de octubre del año pasado se tenía un acumulado de mil 566 solicitudes atendidas de servicios de suministro eléctrico dedicadas a la carga de vehículos eléctricos e híbridos conectables, con un pico en 2023 cuando se recibieron 678 solicitudes.
Hoy, los vehículos eléctricos representan cerca del 1% del total de unidades vendidas en el mercado, sin embargo, el Programa de Desarrollo del Sistema Eléctrico Nacional (Prodesen) proyecta que para 2036, alrededor del 32.4% de los vehículos automotores comercializados en México serán eléctricos.
Pero la falta de infraestructura sigue siendo uno de los principales puntos en contra de la comercialización de autos 100% eléctricos. “Es necesario impulsar la producción de tecnologías bajas en emisiones, disponer de infraestructura energética tanto de puntos de recarga como de energías renovables, tener una normatividad clara y avanzada que impulse esta materia, que nos permita tener una estrategia nacional coordinada por el Gobierno federal”, mencionó Guillermo Rosales, presidente de la Asociación Mexicana de Distribuidores de Automotores (AMDA).
