AHMSA informa sobre sus operaciones con la empresa Grangemouth

Monclova, Coahuila.- Por medio de un comunicado, la empresa Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) informó que con base en un contrato firmado en enero de 2013, Grangemouth participó como gestor internacional en un proyecto de expansión de las siderúrgicas en Monclova, a fin de producir aceros de alta especificación para la industria automotriz.
Lo anterior, en relación a la información publicada sobre las operaciones efectuadas por AHMSA con la empresa Grangemouth, una firma offshore vinculada a Odebrecht.
En ese contexto, la siderúrgica precisó que Grangemouth fue contratada para asesorar a la empresa en la búsqueda, selección, evaluación y cotización de los equipos y sistemas, determinación de proveedores en Europa y Asia, supervisión de la fabricación de la maquinaria, y establecimiento de la logística de provisionamiento.
También facilitó la adquisición emergente de partidas de carbón metalúgico para la operación de las plantas siderúrgicas.
“A raíz de la caída internacional de los precios del acero, a inicios de 2014 se determinó suspender y postergar el desarrollo del proyecto, por lo que de común acuerdo con Grangemouth fue cancelado el contrato y se pagó la factura emitida por la empresa, con un total de 3,703,540.57 dólares, acorde a los trabajos efectuados hasta ese momento”.
AHMSA señaló que el pago se efectuó en tres parcialidades y en la institución bancaria indicada por Grangemouth y la operación comercial, con sus procesos inherentes, se encuentra plenamente documentada.
