Presidente finlandés le informa a Putin que Finlandia pedirá ingreso en OTAN
Sauli Niinistö, presidente finlandés, informó por teléfono a su homólogo ruso, Vladímir Putin, que Finlandia tiene la intención de solicitar su ingreso a la OTAN en los próximos días.
En este sentido, Niinistö explicó a Putin que debido a las demandas rusas para evitar la ampliación de la OTAN a finales de 2021 y la invasión rusa de Ucrania en febrero de 2022 perturbaron de modo fundamental el entorno de seguridad de Finlandia.
Así mismo, Niinistö indicó en el comunicado que la conversación telefónica con su homólogo ruso fue “directa y clara y se llevó a cabo sin tensiones”.

Por otra parte, el mandatario finlandés le recordó a Putin que durante la primera reunión bilateral que mantuvieron en 2012 le dijo que cada nación independiente intenta maximizar su propia seguridad y le insistió en que eso es lo que Finlandia está haciendo ahora.

“Al unirse a la OTAN, Finlandia fortalecerá su propia seguridad y asumirá sus responsabilidades. No es en perjuicio de nadie. Finlandia quiere seguir abordando los problemas prácticos generados por la vecindad fronteriza de manera correcta y profesional”, explica el comunicado.

Al mismo tiempo, el presidente Niinistö insistió a Putin su “profunda preocupación” por el sufrimiento humano provocado por la guerra de Rusia en Ucrania y resaltó la necesidad de alcanzar la paz.
