Rebelión en la Granja... de la T4

En su fantástica novela de sátira política Animal Farm -traducida al español como “Rebelión en la Granja”-, el británico George Orwell retrata con magistral tino la forma en la cual los regímenes construidos a partir de la pretendida superioridad moral e intelectual de sus líderes terminan transformándose exactamente en aquello contra lo cual dicen luchar.
Uno de los procesos a través de los cuales puede apreciarse con nitidez la degradación de tales experimentos es la metamorfosis de su ideario, la mudanza de su línea discursiva, el “retoque” de los estandartes de su lucha política, merced a los cuales ganaron los votos para asaltar el poder.
En Animal Farm este proceso se encuentra magistralmente caracterizado en los pasajes en los cuales se relata cómo los siete mandamientos del “animalismo” -la filosofía adoptada por los animales luego de expulsar a los humanos de la granja- fueron “adaptándose” a las necesidades del momento. Y cuando decimos “necesidades” debe entenderse las necesidades de sus líderes.
Apenas triunfó la rebelión, los cerdos -quienes debido a su inteligencia y claridad de pensamiento se colocaron a sí mismos en el liderazgo de la nueva sociedad- hicieron inscribir en la pared posterior del establo los principios a partir de los cuales se construiría la utopía con la cual habían soñado.
“Todo lo que camina sobre dos patas es un enemigo”, “todo lo que camina sobre cuatro patas o tiene alas es un amigo”, “ningún animal llevará ropa”, “ningún animal dormirá en una cama”, “ningún animal beberá alcohol”, “ningún animal matará a otro animal”, “todos los animales son iguales”... frases cortas, claras, fáciles de recordar y repetir como mantra.
Cualquier parecido con cosas como “no mentir, no robar y no traicionar al pueblo” es producto de la falta de imaginación de Orwell para escribir algo original...
Pero, como ocurre más temprano o más tarde con estos regímenes (bueno: con sus dirigentes en realidad), pronto los cerdos comenzaron a caminar erguidos, a beber alcohol, a reservar para ellos los mejores alimentos, a dormir en las camas de la antigua hacienda...
Ante los reclamos la respuesta fue tan simple como contundente: los animales recordaban mal los siete mandamientos, sobre todo el relativo a la igualdad, pues en realidad decía: “todos los animales son iguales... pero hay unos más iguales que otros”.
El texto de Orwell fue publicado por primera ocasión en 1945 y constituye no solamente la más imaginativa y certera crítica al régimen soviético, sino la más adelantada de las previsiones sobre su destino inevitable: el fracaso y la desaparición.
Hoy, frente a la esquizofrenia discursiva de la transformación de cuarta y su líder supremo, revisitar a Orwell resulta, además de obligado, absolutamente entretenido, pues párrafo tras párrafo, página tras página, uno constata cómo puede escribirse la biografía de un gobierno incluso décadas antes de haber comenzado siquiera.
Coloque en su lista de lecturas para el cierre del año Rebelión en la Granja y disfrute armando sus paralelismos: ¿quién es el “Viejo Comandante”?, ¿quiénes Napoleón y Bola de Nieve?, ¿a quienes corresponde el papel de los perros Campanilla, Jéssica y Chispa? ¿a cuáles otros el de los borregos? ¿Y el cuervo Moises? ¿Y el percherón Boxer?
Todo mundo encaja sin dificultad en la genealogía orwelliana y los episodios emblemáticos de la T4 parecen tomados, literalmente, de las páginas de esta novela. No es casual: las ocurrencias pseudo progres, encabezadas por individuos ignorantes y seguidas por otros aún más ignorantes, son predecibles como pantuflas, diría el maestro Guillermo Sheridan.
Anímese e hínquele el diente este fin de año a Rebelión en la Granja. Aprenderá mucho de la T4 y de su único destino posible: el basurero de la historia.
