U2 estrena ‘The Sphere’ en Las Vegas con un impresionante concierto
La banda irlandesa tuvo el privilegio de estrenar este alucinante escenario con un show lleno de colores, luces y una inolvidable puesta en escena
La legendaria banda U2 ha sido protagonista de innumerables shows memorables durante su trayectoria, no obstante, este viernes se encontraron con uno de los más emblemáticos en el nuevo estadio “The Sphere” en Las Vegas, mismo que promete ser la nueva forma de presentar espectáculos en vivo.
Esta impresionante obra arquitectónica albergará a la banda que estará dando shows semanales hasta mediados de diciembre. A esta serie de presentaciones les fue dado el nombre de UV Achtung Baby (en referencia al disco de la banda) y hará uso de todas las capacidades del escenario, mismas de las que se destacan 167 mil altavoces que prometen un sonido envolvente en cualquier lugar del recinto, además de 260 mil millones de píxeles en pantallas LED que aseguran imágenes nítidas e impresionantemente coloridas.

Ya sea en temas como Even better than the real thing, donde los caleidoscopios se roban la atención del público o en Love rescue me, donde The Edge y Bono parecieran estar solos ante el recinto, estas presentaciones introducirán una nueva forma de presentar un espectáculo musical y visual.
No sólo se dio acceso a un público en general, sino que también se pudo ver a algunos famosos que asistieron a este gran show. Personalidades como Paul McCartney, Oprah, LeBron James o Snoop Dogg también fueron vistas entre el público de la banda.
Las sorpresas no pararon ahí, ya que durante su primer set incluyeron una nueva canción titulada Atomic city, tema para el que desplegaron una transmisión de la ciudad que parecía ser en tiempo real.

Sin embargo, el imponente estadio “The Sphere” no sólo se utilizará para albergar a músicos, sino que también se prevé la proyección de documentales y películas que cumplan con el formato 360 del recinto. Largometrajes como Postcard from Earth de Darren Aronofsky serán los próximos shows que tendrá este escenario.
En uno de los mejores momentos de la noche, Bono reconoció a Paul McCartney mientras reflexionaba acerca de las razones que llevaron a construir “The Sphere”. Entre la conversación enfatizó el hecho de que estos grandes escenarios están hechos para que no vuelva a pasar lo que les sucedió a The Beatles en el Shea Stadium, mismo recinto donde debido al ruido nadie podía escuchar bien el show.
También aprovechó para reconocer al baterista holandés Bram van den Berg, quien remplazó a Larry Mullen debido a que este último está convaleciente por una operación en la columna. Bono también felicitó a Bram por su cumpleaños y lo invitó a decir unas palabras para el público.
Este espectáculo concluyó con la canción Beautiful Day, que es una de las más galardonadas de la banda. Bajo proyecciones de pájaros, insectos y reptiles fue que este show dio pie a una nueva temporada de conciertos para la banda y marcó un precedente para los recintos, ya que “The Sphere” también cuenta con un servicio de atención a los asistentes por medio de inteligencia artificial.

Este recinto es casi directamente una herencia al legado de Elvis Presley, quien fue de los primeros en dar grandes shows en la ciudad, agregó Bono. Este domo cuenta con 111 metros de alto y 157 de ancho, medidas más que suficientes para lograr una total inmersión del espectador, no sólo dentro del recinto ya que desde fuera también se puede apreciar un increíble espectáculo.
